At TieBoutique, we want your neckwear to look immaculate and last for years. Ties made from delicate fabrics like silk, silk-blends, or fine woven materials require gentle care and proper storage. Follow these simple guidelines to preserve the shape, texture, and elegance of your ties.
Untying & Removing Your Tie
Never Pull or Rip It Off: Avoid pulling the narrow end through the knot forcibly. This breaks the internal stitching and distorts the fabric.
Reverse the Steps: Always untie your tie by reversing the knot steps carefully to prevent stress on the seam.
Cleaning & Stain Removal
Spot Clean Small Stains: Blot (do not rub) fresh spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth or a soft cloth dipped in cold water.
Professional Dry Cleaning Only: Do not machine wash or submerge ties in water. For tough stains, take your tie to a professional dry cleaner specializing in delicate fabrics.
Storage & Shape Preservation
-
Hang or Roll: Store your ties by hanging them on a dedicated tie rack, or loosely roll them from the narrow end to the wide end and place them in a drawer.
-
Give It a Rest: Avoid wearing the same tie two days in a row. Allow at least 24 to 48 hours for the inner lining to recover its natural shape and iron out minor wrinkles automatically.
Use Steam: Hang your tie in the bathroom while taking a hot shower—the natural steam gently releases wrinkles without damaging the delicate fibers.
-
Avoid Direct Ironing: Never place a hot iron directly onto a silk tie, as it can crush the rolled edges and leave a shiny mark. If ironing is necessary, use a damp press cloth over the tie on a low heat/silk setting.
